Schools

The River Crossing Development is located within the Comal Independent School District.

The Comal Independent School District is an outstanding educational system offering first-class instructional programs in a family friendly environment. It is a place where your children will be successful.

CISD was created in 1956 and encompasses almost 600 square miles of the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Several CISD schools are located in New Braunfels while others are in the communities of Sattler (near Canyon Lake), Spring Branch, Smithson Valley, and Bulverde. CISD presently has in excess of 15,000 students in 17 schools with several new schools coming on line and planned within the next few years.

A bond issue pass in 2005 is allowing CISD to build six new schools, convert others, renovate some, and buy more school buses. CISD is also upgrading technology and buying land for future schools thanks to the $189 million bond package. CISD’s stated goal is “to keep the schools small enough for teachers and administrators to have quality instructional time with your children.” “We pride ourselves on a strong academic program that includes classes for the gifted/talented, advanced placement classes, and career and technology courses.”
